FROM THE 2ND TO THE 9TH OF JULY
The Finals week of this seventeenth edition of the Match Play Las Americas is underway. Tomorrow, Wednesday, the two 2nd category semi-finals and the remaining 1st category semi-final will be played. After the victory of Rafael Díez Folgueras against Nicholas Dean Parker on the 13th hole in the first semi-final played last Friday 2nd, we will know the 2nd finalist in the first category tomorrow from 3:32pm. On Friday 2pm the winner of the clash between Guillermo Moreno Masiá and Antonio Grosso will face Rafael Díez Folgueras with the aim of posting his name forever at the main entrance of the Club House.
FIRST CATEGORY FINALS SCHEDULE
In the second category, both semi-finals will be played tomorrow, Wednesday, and there may be for the first time in history a women’s final, which would ensure a female champion after the title of Dolores Sebares in 2009. French player Elisabeth Anquez will be looking for her place in Friday’s final against Roberto Cantero at 2:04 pm. The second semi-final will be a replay of the 2020 quarter-final, in which Eduardo Reyes de Paz knocked out Marisa Morin (4&3). Finally Eduardo could not get on the podium after losing in the semis against Asier Escobal, current champion, and in the fight for the 3rd place against Carlos Ramos.
The semifinals will be exciting and will decide who will be in the match for 3rd place this Friday (1:30 pm) or in the great final of 2nd category at 1:50 pm, also on Friday 9th July.
