María Velázquez faced a tough challenge on the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club, the prestigious venue of the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic, during the opening round of the Meliá Golf Challenge in Dubai.
Representing Golf Las Américas, Velázquez is proud to be sponsored by Golf Las Américas and Hotel Las Madrigueras, carrying their brand image across the Emirates’ golf courses.
The first round of the tournament confirmed why the Majlis Course is regarded as one of the most challenging layouts on the circuit. Velázquez carded a +8 on a day dominated by the course’s strategic complexity and relentless challenges.
“Fantastic course, but so many blind shots,” she remarked after her round, highlighting one of the key difficulties of this renowned course. With its strategically designed fairways and well-guarded greens, the golfer from Tenerife had to use all her skills to overcome the test posed by this world-class venue.
Looking ahead, Velázquez will be looking to fine-tune her approach and produce a stronger performance in the second round, a crucial opportunity to move up the leaderboard.
