Golf Las Américas renews the ISO 14.001:2015 certificate
The same day that International Mother Earth Day, Golf Las Américas announces the renewal of the ISO 14.001:2015 certificate, the international standard of environmental management, which was implemented in the golf course, clubhouse and maintenance area in 2004. We’re aware of the importance of protecting the environment that surrounds us, that’s why company’s management had set up a department led by the environmental manager Nuria Rodríguez..
This department ensures the sustainability of our activity, with periodic reviews of our services, the establishment of environmental objectives and the verification of environmental policy. Rodríguez welcomes the renewal of the certificate because it is for us "the guarantee of compliance with environmental legal requirements, as well as we minimize the environmental impact of our activity".
Each year, Earth Day —April 22— marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The idea for a national day to focus on the environment came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Inspired by the student anti-war movement, he realized that if he could infuse that energy with an emerging public consciousness about air and water pollution, it would force environmental protection onto the national political agenda.
