Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: L\u00e1 Fh\u00e9ile P\u00e1draig), is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (c.\u2009385\u00a0\u2013 c.\u2009461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland. <\/span><\/p>

Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early 17th century and is observed by the Catholic Church<\/a>, the Anglican Communion<\/a> (especially the Church of Ireland<\/a>), the Eastern Orthodox Church<\/a>, and the Lutheran Church<\/a>. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
