GOLF LAS AMÉRICAS & ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS DAYS
Golf Las Americas joins the celebration of environmental awareness days of June: World Environment Day (today), World Oceans Day (this Friday), World Day to combat Desertification and Drought (next 17th of June) and World Tree Day (next 28th of June).
World Environment Day (WED) is an environmental awareness day, run by the United Nations. It is sometimes also unofficially called Eco Day or Environment Day. The aim of the Day is to raise awareness of the environment and specific environmental issues. Every year there is a new main focus for WED. This year the focus is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ (efforts to reduce plastic pollution).
WED was established in 1972 but first held in 1974, which shows that concern about the environment goes back several decades at least. 143 countries take part in WED, and the day focuses on environmental concerns ranging from pollution to global warming and sustainable food production to protection of wildlife.
GOLF LAS AMÉRICAS ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
We are aware of our obligations to maintain and care for our environment. The management of Golf Las Américas, conscious of the limitation to the natural resources and the environmental impact associated with the business activity, especially on Canary Islands, in 2004 considered it important for the introduction of 2 systems for its environmental management: The UNE-EN ISO 14.001 and the Biosphere Golf.
